Invisible (by laidbaqq)

Short video by Xavier about his invisibility as a trans man and the pressure to assimilate. Captioned.

Apparently my supervisor and coworkers were fine with it, but the HR representative, who I never even got to meet, was not.

They first had the person from my staffing agency contact me (instead of speaking to me personally)

Horrible. We do have to keep fighting for ENDA.

April 15, 2011. Day of Silence for Gay/Lesbian/Bisexual/Transgendered community. Reblog if you will offer a moment of silence to those silenced for their sexual orientation and/or gender identity.

Because offering silence to those who are already silent is actually going to do something.

There’s actually the Night of Noise, which is supposed to happen when the sun sets on April 15th. Everyone who participated in DoS is supposed to break the silence by screaming, shouting, and just generally making noise. Most people forget about that part, though.

“We need to sever all the culturally-constructed connections that currently exist in our society between what sex a person is and virtually every other aspect of human experience, including modes of dress, social roles, and ways of expressing emotion and experiencing sexual desire…ALL gender is drag. In other words, all gender is an imitation of some phantasmagorical vision of what a man or a woman is supposed to be like. Hence, there is nothing more natural, original, or unconstructed about a male dressing like a male than a female dressing up like a male.”
-Dismantling Gender Polarization and Compulsory Heterosexuality
I am not simply a flaw or anomaly in a perfect system. I am evidence that the system is flawed to begin with.
